About Rabbi David Grossman
Rabbi Grossman was born and raised in Randolph, and his parents Bernard and Eva were dedicated members of Temple Beth Am. Throughout his youth, Rabbi Grossman read Torah for TBA. Rabbi Grossman attended Maimonides School until his sophomore year of high school, after which he completed his high school years at Randolph High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he majored in English.
Rabbi Grossman has served as the Rabbi of Temple B'Nai Tikvah in Canton, the congregation resulting from the merger of TBA and Temple Beth Abraham of Canton. Before that, he served the TBA community, first as Cantor for eight years and then as Rabbi for five years, after the retirement of his colleague Rabbi Loel Weiss.
Rabbi Grossman is no stranger to the Jewish Community of Hull, having led Shabbat services at our sister shul, Temple Israel of Nantasket, during summers from 1980 to 2010. He is also a member of the South Shore Men of Harmony men's acappella group and the quartet Back in Town, both of which have performed at numerous civic functions in Hull and in adjacent towns.
Rabbi Grossman attended Maimonides School under the tutelage of Rabbi Joseph Soleveitchek and studied privately to be a cantor under renowned Cantors Gregor Shelkan and Moshe Semigran, A”H. Later in life, he attained his Conservative Smicha from Rabbi Steven Blane in New York.
Rabbi Grossman and his wife Diane, a Professor of Philosophy at Simmons University in Boston, always share their time and love with their synagogue communities and with their own family members; Rabbi Grossman has four sons, three of whom currently serve as cantors at local shuls.
